I recently had an outage that prevented my site from being access by all but two of the monitoring stations. This also meant that a majority of users couldn't access it either. However, I didn't get SMS notifications on the grounds that 2 of the stations could still hit the services.
My suggestion is thus:
Allow the user to select whether they want notification if: A) 1 station fails. B) All stations fail. or C) >X stations fail, where X is a number set by the user.
I personally would have it notify if >=4 of 8 stations fail.
Just some thoughts.

Welcome to the forums.
Yes, that is how the system works at the moment. As long as any one of the monitoring stations reaches your server, the system would think your server is up.
We understand the need for having the options you suggested. Your suggestion has been recorded and will be considered for future implementation.
