I've added a cname that points to monitoring*******.net. When I go to the url in the browser (monitor.downtimealerts.com), all I get is:

Monitoring station at Dallas, Texas, USA.

I'd really like my normal domain "downtimealerts.com" to go directly to the site, but require an IP address to forward it to.

any ideas?

(Edited by admin. Had to mask the domain to protect its anonymity)

Im getting that error too, I cleared cache, waited more than 10 mins. I think its because I didn't setup the CNAME recored right.

Can you please post the steps on how to setup a CNAME, I'm really lost and some help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Apoclypse,

Your reseller site loads fine from here. Try to refresh your browser - F5 or CTRL-R.

Perhaps you tried to access the site before CNAME is setup correctly? This can cause your browser to cache the bad DNS result, so it takes a while before you can correctly resolve the hostname.

Do let me know if the problem persists.

Thank you.

On a side note, the steps for setting CNAME really depend on the control panel, or DNS/hosting provider you use. Therefore, we're unable to provide any detailed steps in this regard; you're advised to consult your DNS provider if you have a problem.

Currently, the system allows only 1 hostname to be registered. That is, if you have www.yourdomain.com registered, you can't use without www.

Many people have feedback to us about this, and in the next few days we will add a new setting to let you enter multiple hostnames. So, you can register both hostnames, with and without www.

We'll post an update here once the feature is ready.

Thank you for your patience.

I have found a temporary way around this problem. If you have your hostname set to use www you can setup a redirect for the use of non www.

Example: setup http://domain.com to redirect to http://www.domain.com.

The olny downfall I see until you add more hostnames to be set is that if you use parked domains they will not work. That is why we need some to be able to set more hostnames.

Any idea when this is going to be ready?

Welcome on board, thunderhostCeo Smile

We have this feature since Oct 22, 2005 - http://www.hyperspin.com:81/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18 .

In your Hyperspin account, navigate to Reseller -> Settings. Use www.domain.com as the default hostname, and domain.com as alternative. You'll need to create CNAME for both www.domain.com and domain.com .
