Improving uptime is a continuous & repeating process of
1) monitoring,
2) reporting, and
3) rectifying

Monitoring
Hyperspin supports a few types of tests, be sure to use the right type for different purposes:

A) Network/host Connectivity: Use "ping test" to check the connectivity of your router or host. You'll be notified when your network/host is disconnected from the rest of the world, due to any kind of network issues.

B) Service Availability: Do you run a website, or other services such as SMTP, POP3, DNS, database etc? This is a more "client-centric" aspect of monitoring as your clients are more interested in accessing your services (eg. your website), than to know if your server is responsive to ping. Use "website test", "web server test" or "TCP port test" for these purposes.

Reporting
When you receive a downtime notification, try to figure out the root cause. Is the downtime due to a network, hardware, or software issue? The error message provided by Hyperspin may give some clues. Sometimes, finding the cause may not be easy. You may also verify the problem with your host. However, bear in mind that your host may not always know/tell the truth, so you have to make your best judgement. If the problem is due to a software issue, you may want to optimize or reconfigure your setup, or try different software altogether.

Rectifying
Many a times, you can prevent the problem from recurring especially if it is software related. There are too many possible faults depending on the software you use. We recommend searching the new groups where someone may experienced the same problem and have found the solution.

Lastly, feel free to contact us should you have any questions in using our service. We hope you enjoy our service.

Thank you
